About "Sporty"
Spiritlodge Sporting Chance JH NA NAJ WC (ptd.)
“Sport” comes to us from friend, mentor, and breeder/co-owner Wendy Lepper of Spiritlodge Goldens in Canada. “Sport” is from an outcross breeding– the last litter out of the fabulous BJ, Ch Spiritlodge You’ll Be Blessed, who has produced wonderful Goldens, and sired by Corona First Among Equals (Gavin), a dog with outstanding breed type. Thank you Wendy for letting “Sport” come live with us!

Sport's Birthday: Oct 28, 2005
I see in “Sport” what is described in the General Appearance section of the Breed Standard. It calls for a “symmetrical, powerful, active dog, sound and well put together […] and possessing a personality that is eager, alert and self-confident”. “Sport” also has natural birdiness and a very strong drive to retrieve. Her marking ability is good. She is very smart and sweet and has a delightful sense of humor! She makes us laugh all the time. Her temperament is sound, and she behaves appropriately with children, puppies, and other dogs.
Sporty loves to work and be helpful. When she can’t be outside
doing something, she does anything she can to help out, like bring in
the newspaper, groceries, pick up and retrieve things that have fallen
on the floor, pick up all the dog food bowls when they are finished
eating, and find everyone’s slippers! If I could only get her to push
the vacuum we’d be all set!

Sport finished her Junior Hunter title in 3 weekends of tests. It was a first for both of us and lots of fun. We miss the camaraderie at the tests and are currently training to go on to Senior (when we’re not competing in agility trials!).
Sporty qualified for the GRCA Triathlon Award at the 2007 GRCA National when she earned her WC (Working Certificate) in field, earned a leg toward her NAJ with a 2nd place, and won the Novice Bitch class. It was our goal for the National and a thrill to achieve.
Sport has obtained all her health clearances (hips (OFA Good), elbows, eye, and heart).
